BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE PROGRAM: Youth Hostels Association of India, Tamil Nadu State Branch is happy to announce second time the famous trekking program named National Trekking cum Training Expedition: Sikkim- - Goecha La Trek: 2023. One of the very famous treks is called the Dzongri – Goechala Trek which starts from Yuksum (1780 Mtrs the first Capital of Sikkim) and reaches to the final point as Goechala (4491 Mtrs).

WISE SCHEDULE:

1: Arrival at Yuksom Base Camp, Sikkim and Reporting
Day
2: Yuksom (5,700 feet) to Sachen (7,200 feet) Trek of around 4 to
4.5 hours trek
Day
3: Sachen (7,200 feet) to Tshoka (9, 650 feet) Trek of around 3.5
to 4 hours
Day
4: Tshoka (9,650 feet) to Dzongri via Phedang (12,050 feet) Trek of
around 5 to 6 Hours

5: Dzongri (12980ft ) to Dzongri Top (13681 ft)
Day
6: Dzongri (12980 ft) to Thansing (12894 ft ) via Kochchurang
(12096 ft). Trek of around 5 to 6 hours

7: Thansing (12894 ft) to Goechala (16,000 ft) and back to

Certificate must be shared to YHAI before 7 days of the program starting date.

FEE

Things not included in fees:
•Transportation pick up and drop

•Personal expenses like tips, telephone calls, Laundry etc.
•Any meals/ services not mentioned above.
•Off loading (personal bags) if not able to carry pay extra per bag 10kg per day rs 500/- directly to the porter.
HOW
TO REACH THE BASE CAMP:
By
Airways :
Visitors
who wish to reach Yuksom by flight, Bagdogra Airport located 160 kms from this
town is the closest airport. This airport receives flights from various major
destinations across the India. On getting down at this airport one can easily
hire a cab or take a taxi till Yuksom.
By
Roadways :
If
you are keen in taking the roads, then you can reach Yuksom within 5 hours from
Geyzing (44.9 km) taking a private or shared jeep. One can also take a bus to
reach this point. The roads to Yuksom are poorly lit, so taking a morning bus
from the railway station or airport is advisable in comparison to a night
journey by a bus.
By
Railways :
Travelers, who wish to experience a journey by train, must know that New Jalpaiguri Railway Station is the sole option available. Travelling by train is a lot reasonable alternative to reach Yuksom. This railhead connects major states of the country. From this station one can hire a private vehicle or a taxi to reach Yuksom.
ACCOMMODATION
FACILITIES: Tented accommodation.
FOOD
& WATER SUPPLIES: Simple vegetarian and nutritious food will be served. Local
food will be provided on higher camps.
WHAT
PARTICIPANTS SHOULD BRING ALONG:
1. First
Things First: Basic gear for trekking, refillable water bottles,
sunglasses, trekking pole, a rain- covered rucksack, torch and spare batteries.
Drone is
strictly prohibited in the area so don’t bring the same.
2. Major
Documents: Govt. ID Card (original, and three photocopies), three passport
size photos, Inner Line Permit (ILP) for foreigners, medical certificate.
3. Quick
dry clothing: Warmers, lowers, track pants, t-shirts, thermals, fleece
jacket, padded jacket, sweaters, rain-wear, thick socks, cotton socks,
essentials, gloves, water resistant gloves, caps, balaclavas, footwear, hiking
shoes and slippers.
4. Utensils: A
lightweight lunch box, a small plate, a spoon, a mug, and other essentials that
one may need.
5. Toiletries:
Sunscreen lotion, cold cream, moisturizers, toothbrush & toothpaste,
sanitizer, toilet roll, small towel.
6. Must
carry: Anti fungal cream, tampons for women, pouches to dispose off
non biodegradable waste.
7. Miscellaneous: Personal
First aid kit, prescribed medicines(if any), dry fruits, energy bars,
chocolates, and snacks to munch on.
SAFETY & SECURITY: While every care
has been taken to ensure safety, the Youth Hostels Association of India cannot
be held responsible for any theft, accident, illness and other such unforeseen
eventualities.
CANCELLATION RULES: CANCELLATION RULES:
1. In case any participant is unable to join this trek and willing to cancel, you will get a refund of 50% of your fees amount provided that your cancellation request must received to us at least 15 days in advance from the programme reporting date.
2. No refund will be applicable if the cancellation request will receive less than 15 days in advance from the programme reporting date.
3. No credit shell will be provided in this program and no transfer request to any other program is permissible from this program.
4. No medical issues, natural calamity or any sort of personal reasons will be considered as cancellation reason and will be considered for refund.
