After successful completion of Tentrekking expedition programmes in Munnar, Agasthyamala&Schenduruni  YHAI Kerala state branch gives another opportunity to explore the "Explore Munnar 2022

 

 

Schedule of the Programme

  1. 1 Reporting at Base Camp :  ShikshakSadan, 33H6+WHR, Moolakadai, Munnar, Kerala 685612

                                5 PM Orientation and Acclimatization / Training .

Day 2 .   Experience the secrets of “Seven Hills (Lashmi Hills) 4 Hrs Trekking and Nature study

  • Lakshmi Hill trek is a 4-hour trek and goes through the lush green landscapes that Munnar is famous for. The trek will take you through the lush green grasslands, tea plantations and through 7 of the adjoining hills.

Day 3                Experience the secrets of “ Thoovanam Waterfalls Trek ”& “MarayurMuniyara Heritage Walk”

                Thoovanam waterfalls will definitely make a traveler's day blessed. This place is filled with the music and love of nature. It is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Kerala at a distance of 50 Kms from Munnar and 10 Kms from Marayoor. Trekking can be a little challenging to beginners. The waterfall has to be reached by 6 Kms trek from Alampetty

Marayoor is a small place in the Idukki district of Kerala, South India, famous for its natural sandalwood trees. However, it has developed as a favorite destination of anthropologists and archaeologists because of the various dolmens and rock paintings found in this region.

The dolmens of Marayoor are locally called as Muniyara and they belong to the Megalithic Age. The dolmens are granite structures having the shape of tables with dressed surfaces on the top

 

Day 4   Sight Seeing “Munnar”

 

Rajamala is one of the best-known wildlife sanctuaries in Kerala that attracts hundreds of thousands of tourists every year. Located at an altitude of 2695 feet above sea level, Rajamala is famous for the many varieties of NilgiriTahr, a mountain goat with short, spiky fur. There are more than 1300 such goats at Rajamala.

Road : Motorbale roads connect Munnar from Ernakulam, Aluva, 

Rail : The nearest railhead  is Aluva / Ernakulam which is connected to with Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hydarabad, Ahammedabad, Baroda, Bhopal, Howrah and Guwahathi etc. Aluva Railway Station (108 Kms)  Ernakulam Town Railway station (127Kms)

Air : The nearest airport is Cochin International airport 109Kms.

Rucksack, Pants / Jeans, Woolen Cloth, Torch with extra batteries, Soap, Towel, Mug, Lunch Box, Glass, Water Bottle, Plate, Spoon, and Camera (Optional)

 

 

SAFETY & SECURITY:

Our field volunteers and camp leaders have been visited the area and check the details. While every care has been taken to ensure safety, Youth Hostels Association of India cannot be held responsible for any accident, illness and such other unforeseen eventualities

  • Regularly wash hands
  • Face masks required for travelers in public areas
  • Regular temperature checks
  • Transportation vehicles regularly sanitized

Climate:- Winter hits Munnar in the month of November and continues till February. The temperature comes down to 11°C during this period. Moreover, winter is also considered as an ideal time for trekking, rock climbing and rappelling here.

 

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

Use of alcohol and narcotics of any description and smoking are strictly prohibited during the programme. Deviation from the set rout of the programme is not permitted. If participants desire to join any other activity, they may do so at their own responsibility and risk only after finishing the programme and check out.

CANCELLATION RULES:

In case you are unable to join the programme after paying participation fee, you will get Rs 4000/-as refund provided your request is received at least 10 days in advance from the date of your reporting. No refund will, however, be admissible if such notice is short of 10 days.
