Day wise Schedule:

Day 1: Report at Base camp IYH Darjeeling at before 5 PM. Acclimatization & Orientation, Kit inspection, Luggage deposit.
Day 2: From the base camp move to Chitrey or Dhotrey by Jeep. Then trek to Tumling (9450 ft.) 7 km, 4 hours.
Day 3: Trek from Tumling (9,450 ft) to Kalipokhri (10,400 ft) 12 km, 7 hours.
Day 4: Trek from Kalipokhri (10,400 ft) to Sandakphu (11,950 ft) 6 km, 3 hours.
Day 5: Trek from Sandakphu (11,950 ft) via Sabargram to Molley (11,807 ft), 12 km, 7 hours
Day 6: Trek from Sabargram -Molley (11,807 ft) to Gorkhey (7,546 ft) via Phalut (11,795 ft); 16 km, 7 hours
Day 7: Trek from Gorkhey (7,546 ft) Via Ramban to Shrikhola (6,234 ft); 15 km, From to Rimbick by Jeep -Certificate Distribution.
Day 8: Checkout After Breakfast from Rimbick (Extra Luggage will be handed over to the participants)

Note- Participants are requested to report at base camp by before  5 p.m.

* How To Reach: The Base Camp is at International Youth Hostels  Darjeeling, Chota Kakjhora, Near New Taxi Stand, 500mtr away only. Before Darjeeling Railway Station, Darjeeling is easily accessible from any part of India by Air, Rail or Road,

The Railway Station is New Jalpaiguri (73 kms / 3 hours)

Airport at Bagdogra ( 70 kms / 2.5 hours) being

From there avail Bus/Jeep/Taxi services to reach International Youth Hostel, Darjeeling.

Report at Base camp IYH Darjeeling before 3 PM.

Today is reporting day, at International Youth Hostel Darjeeling. Participants have to report before 3 pm. Evening is dedicated for tea & snacks followed by acclimatization, Orientation, Kit inspection and Luggage deposit.


From the Base camp to Dhotrey by Jeep and trek to Tumling (9450 feet.) 7km,

Our trek starts from Dhotrey village, we cross through dense Rhododendron forest. Post making our way amidst the forest we walk through a Bugyal or a meadow to reach Tonglu. From here we get a mighty glimpse of the Great Sleeping Buddha. After Tonglu you need to trek more than 1 km to reach the campsite. Today’s trek is only 7 km, Max 4 hours to reach the first higher camp at Tumling.


Trek from Tumling to Kalipokhri (10,400 feet) 12 km, 7 hours.

Today we trek a total distance of 12 km. On first section we will be crossing Singalila national park check post to enter a forest. The trek through dense forest with pine trees gives an experience like no other, until we reach Gairibas village. On the opposite of trail, you visit to Nepali shops and relish some hot chai & maggi. From here it’s an uphill Zigzag trail up to Kaiya kata followed by an easy trail until we reach the campsite.


Trek from Kalipokhri to Sandakphu (11,950 feet) 6 km, 3 hours

On a clear day we can sight Sandakphu from kalapokhri. Today we trek on flat table land for 3 km followed by an ascending trail for 3 km, around lunchtime is when we reach Sandakphu. Relish hot lunch here and rest or explore the surrounding of Bengals highest point. Post evening tea & snacks, you can visit Sunset Point, for mesmerizing view, you will literally be on cloud 9. Also, gazing at the color changing Mt. Everest family, and Mt. Kanchendzonga massive makes your experience more enhancing. The next morning you can see a lifetime memorable sunrise and color-changing mountains.


Trek from Sandakphu via Sabargram to Molley (11,807 feet), 12 km, 7 hours

Today we trek over the ridge, on beautiful Bugyal trails. The beauty of this trail is beyond words as it feels like a theatre with 360 degree of massive mountains. Amidst the grassy meadow, there is a point called Sabargram. We trek further down to our campsite of Molley.


Trek from Sabargram -Molley to Gorkhey (7,546 feet) via Phalut (11,795 feet); 16 km, 7 hours

Trek to gorkhey village is flirting on the Indo-Nepal border. Gorkhey village is amidst thick pine forest and an enchanting river flowing through it. Around lunchtime, we should be reaching at Phalut, after relishing our lunch in close proximity with the nature we trek down to Gorkhey camp. From here we can view all mountains from different angle, than Sandakphu. Gorkhey is a hamlet in this region. You will feel the melody of a wonderful Himalayan village.


Trek from Gorkhey via Rammam to Shrikhola (6,234 feet); 15 km, 6 hours

Today your trek will be downhill to Rammam, then up to Shrikhola. You can see the lifestyle of the enrooted Himalayan villages. There is charming beauty throughout the trek .You can discover the cleanliness and flower garden of various households. After reaching Shrikhola, we will pick you from there, and drop you at the Rimbik campsite. Post dinner certificate distribution will be held.


Checkout after Breakfast from Rimbik.

Group checks out post breakfast after collecting countless memories on the trail. Respective luggage will be handed over at Rimbik.

* Food  & Supplies: YHAI provides nutritious, vegetarian and good quality meals which includes Morning tea, breakfast, packed lunch, evening tea (in the camp), dinner and after dinner tea/coffee/Bournvita, shall be provided.  Please bring your own plates, mugs, spoons etc.

Sharing Basic Dorm Accommodation.

* Safety & Security:

Extensive and painstaking preparations have done into the planning of routes for your safety. Our Field Staffs have been visiting the area to check all in details, every care has been taken to ensure safety. Youth Hostels Association of India West Bengal State Branch Can Not Be Held Responsible for any accident, illness and such other unforeseen casualties. If Participants desire to join and other activities they may do so at their own cost and responsibility and only after finishing the program and checking out.

* What participants should bring along:

Rucksack, Cotton Shirt and Pants, Woolen Jersey and Wind Cheater, Jacket, Inner Garments, Two pair thick woolen socks and two pair cotton socks, Trekking shoe and chappal, Woolen gloves and Monkey cap, Light Rain Coat, Sun Cap, Towel, Sun Glass, Torch, Water Bottle and water purifier, Plate, Mug and Spoon, Packed Lunch Box, Needle and thread with spare Buttons, Toilet papers, Walking Sticks, Vaseline, Soap, Pen and Note Book, Medicine which you normally use at home. Optional: Camera, Musical Instruments.

* Notice to Participants:

1.  Smoking, use of alcohol and narcotics of any description is strictly prohibited during the course of the program.

2.  Stay other than YHAI Camp is not allowed for the entire duration of the camp.

3.  This is an environment-friendly trek. Do no litter any wrappers or spoil the trial in any way. In case you find any wrapper, plastic bag, water bottle or anything left by trekkers on the way, please carry the same with you and deposit at the base camp.

4.  Burning of wood during camp fire is strictly prohibited. Import of any bio Non- degradable Material in West Bengal is an offence


* Special Casual leave:


The Trekking Expedition organized by Youth Hostels Association of India have the approval of Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions (Dept. of Personnel And Training), Government of India, vide Office Order no. 28016/3/89-Estt (A), Dated 25 October, 1989. Participants working in the Central Govt. Organization can apply to the authorities concerned for availing special casual leave for the duration of the expedition. This leave can be sanctioned by their office up to 30 days in calendar year.

Cancellation Policy: 

1) In case you are unable to join the programme due to any reason, you will get a 100% Credit Shell of the participation fees which will be valid till December 2023. No refund will be applicable for any cancellation of seat.

2) If the next programme opted by you is cheaper, you may use the balance amount in any of the Trek till Dec 2023.

3) If the next opted programme is costlier, the trekker has to pay the differential amount.

4) If the trekker opts for the same programme that was cancelled, he/she will not be charged extra even if the price goes up next year.

5) You may transfer your seat to your family members and friends also.
