BREIF DESCRIPTION OF THE PROGRAM:

Youth Hostels Association of India has been organizing various adventure programs for the last 48 years. People from the poles apart cultures and regions participate in our programs and enjoy our economical and budgeted trekking adventures. A large number of volunteers work with dedication, and support us for running these programs.

As a part of the Silver Jubilee Celebration of YHAI National Trekking, in 1995 we introduced the Family Camping Program for the families of our volunteer camp leaders and other functionaries. Encouraged by the success of this adventure and, on the request of our members, we repeated this program in many years till 2013. This year again, we are organizing the Family Adventure Camping Program in Leh, J&K.

 

DAY WISE SCHEDULE:(Participants will have to pay for transportation while visiting all Sightseeing places (Rs.3000 to 4000/-.)Per Person including inner Line permit.)

Day 01: Reporting (1.00 PM), Acclimatization and orientation Walk.  

Day 02: Visit Srinagar Route (Sangam, Magnetic Hill, Pathar Sahib Gurudwara, Spituk Monastery, Hall of Fame, & Shanti Stupa, Leh Palace, Leh Market)  

Day 03: Visit Nubra Valley, Khardungla Pass Stay at Nubra Valley Hotel

Day 04: Visit Pangong  Lake, Changla Pass via Shayok River back Leh

 

Day 05: Visit Manali Route ( Hemis Monastry, Thiksey Monastry , Shey Palace , Rancho School , Sindhu Ghat , ) ,Recreation Activities

Note: Seat once booked may not be re-scheduled or transferred. 

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

1. Any YHAI member can participate on first come first serve basis.

2. A family consists of husband, wife and two children up to the age of 12 years. Copy of Birth certificate for the children between ages 10 to 12 years must be attached with application forms or must be submitted at the time of reporting at the Base Camp. Photographs of the Family Head must be attached on the forms.

3. A single person does not constitute a family and shall not be registered for the camp. Parent of very small children should arrange for their bottle feed.

4. Photo ID Proof of the head of the family should be attached with the application form, to be produced at the time of reporting at the base camp.

5. For children above (12-18 years of age, Rs.1000/,18 and above Rs.2000/- per person will be charged. The extra person we will not allow apart from family. ( Husband, wife and two children up to the age of 12 years  only)

6. Husband & Wife's membership is mandatory children’s are Above 18 years Membership is Mandatory.

HOW TO REACH THE BASE CAMP:

By Bus: 

Route-1: from Srinagar 434km via Sonmarg, Zozila Pass & Kargil. J&K State Road Transport Corporation operates regular bus services between Srinagar and Leh on this route with overnight halt at Kargil.

Route-2: from Manali 474km via Keylong, Baralacha, Tanglangla & Upsi. Himachal Pradesh Tourism, HRTC and J&K SRTC operate daily Deluxe and ordinary bus services between Manali and Leh. The bus journey between Leh and Manali with an overnight halt at Keylong or Darcha.

By Air: Major Airlines operate daily flights from Delhi/Jammu/Srinagar

By Train: The closest railway stations are Jammu, Pathankot or Chandigarh, both at least three days away by bus.

NOTE: There is no prepaid mobile service availability at Leh- Ladakh region, only postpaid services are functional.(Airtel, BSNL,Only)

HOW TO JOIN:

 

 

ACCOMMODATION FACILITIES:

One room shall be given to each family. Mattresses, pillow and blankets shall be provided.  A toilet-cum bathrooms block is available at the base camp. 

 

FOOD & WATER SUPPLIES:

Nutritious Vegetarian meals,

 

 

 

WHAT PARTICIPANTS SHOULD BRING ALONG:

Rucksack (if You have one), Woolens, Cotton Shirts, Slacks, Cotton Pants, Sun Cap, Shoes, Socks, Enameled or Steel Mug / tumbler, Plate, Spoon, Water purifying tablets, Pen knife, Needle, Thread, Spare buttons, Goggles, Cold cream / Vaseline, Soap, Toilet Paper, Towel, Rain sheet,  Medicines which you normally use at home, Camera with extra batteries.

 

CANCELLATION RULES:

case you are unable to join this trek you will get a refund of RS             provided your request is received directly in the National Office at least 15 days in advance from the date of your joining. Any unforeseen event / strike or natural calamity will not be considered as a cause of cancellation. Refund will be given after completion of the programme.

 

SAFETY & SECURITY:

Extensive and painstaking preparations have gone into the planning of mountain biking routed for your safety. Our field staff and experienced camp leaders have been visiting the area to check all details. While every care has been taken to ensure safety, the Youth Hostels Association of India cannot be held responsible for any accident, illness and such other unforeseen eventualities.

SMOKING, USE OF ALCHOHOL AND NARCOTICS OF ANY DESCIPTION IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED DURING THECOURSE OF THE PROGRAM.
