* About Program:

Youth Hostels Association of India is organizing the National Himalayan Winter Trekking Expedition in the Dalhousie region of Western Himalayas for the last 24 years. On a popular demand from our members we are once again organizing this expedition from the 10th of December-2019 to the 6th of January-2020. Dalhousie is the very beautiful Hill Station in Himachal Pradesh. Spectacular snow-covered Dhauladhar Mountains are also visible from this enchanting town. Come and see what lies beyond the hills, peep into unseen and have a feel of snow. You are welcome to join this trail on any day during the scheduled period.

 

MANDATORY: Trekking Medical Certificate will be compulsory at the time of reporting only (with 30 days of validity ) duly signed by  registered Medical Practitioner (MBBS / MD only) along with his registration no. and stamp.

# Day 1: Reporting at Base Camp Devidehra ( 1605 ft )

# Day 2: Training/Acclimatization

# Day 3: Base camp Trek to Talai 7550 ft

# Day4: Talai camp to Khajjiar camp- 11km/ 7hr

# Day 5: Khajjiar camp to Mangla camp- 11km/ 6hr

# Day 6: After breakfast transfer by bus from Mangla camp to Base Camp. Certificate Distribution and Recreation Activity & Check out after lunch.

* How To Reach Base Camp:

Base Camp Devidehra ( 1605 ft ) Bus Stop Devidehra near Guru Dwara On the way pathankot to chamba road. From pathankot so many buses are available catch the bus those buses are going to chamba Only.

Nearest Railway Station: Pathankot Cantt. on main Delhi/ Howrah- Jammu section of Northern Railways. Bus Service: Regular bus service from Pathankot, Delhi and other parts of Punjab. Roadways buses and private taxis are available.

 

 

 

* Who can Participate: 

 

The minimum age for a member to join the program is 18 years to 60 Years, YHAI membership is mandatory to participate. This condition will be adhered to strictly. Under age and above age will not be considered in any case. Members desirous of joining this programme may apply online duly supported by a "Trekking Medical Certificate".

 

Special Allowance Cases:

On the special case if the person is medically fit and a regular trekker than he can be allowed in offline mode (decision will be final only on management discretion and seat availability). In this case, he/she has to produce Indemnity bond on rs 100/- bond paper from his respective state and has to submit the same along with his Registration form.

 

 

* How to Participate:

 

Members desirous of joining this program may apply online through our website www.yhaindia.org, or, by the prescribed registration form duly supported by a Medical Certificate, along with a DD amount of Rs.6000/-of requisite amount in favor of “Youth Hostels Association of India”, payable at New Delhi. Members can also apply through the State Branch or Local Unit of YHAI.

YHAI membership card or Receipt of payment for membership fees and Admit card, original Medical Certificate & two Passport size photographs is must to enter into the Base Camp. Without these documents participating members will not be allowed at Base Camp.

* Food  & Supplies: YHAI provides nutritious, vegetarian and good quality meals which includes Morning tea, breakfast, packed lunch, evening tea (in the camp), dinner and after dinner tea/coffee/Bournvita, shall be provided.  Please bring your own plates, mugs, spoons etc.

* Safety & Security:

 

Extensive and painstaking preparations have gone into the planning of this program routed for your safety. Our field staff and experienced camp leaders have been visiting the area to check all details. While every care has been taken to ensure safety, the Youth Hostels Association of India cannot be held responsible for any accident, illness and such other unforeseen eventualities.

 

* What participants should along: 

 

Rucksack (if You have one), Woolens, Cotton Shirts, Slacks, Cotton Pants, Sun Cap, Shoes, Socks, Enameled or Steel Mug / tumbler, Packed Lunch Box, Plate, Spoon, Water purifying tablets, Pen knife, Needle, Thread, Spare buttons, Goggles, Cold cream / Vaseline, Soap, Toilet Paper, Towel, Rain sheet,  Medicines which you normally use at home, Camera with extra batteries. Jungle Boots/ Snow Shoes/ Trekking Boots are must for walking on snow.

 

* Notice to Participants:

 

1. Smoking, use of alcohol and narcotics of any description is strictly prohibited during the course of the program.

2. Deviation from the set route of the program is not permitted. If participants may wish to join any other activity, they may do so at their own responsibility and risk only after finishing the program and checking out.

3. Stay other than YHAI Camp is not allowed for the entire duration of the camp.

4. This is an environment friendly trek. Do no litter any wrappers or spoil the trial in any way. In case you find any wrapper, plastic bag or anything left by trekkers on the way, please carry the same with you and deposit at the base camp.

5. Burning of wood during camp fire is strictly prohibited. 

 

* Special Casual leave: The Trekking Expedition organized by Youth Hostels Association of India have the approval of Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions (Dept. of Personnel And Training), Government of India, vide Office Order no. 28016/3/89-Estt (A), Dated 25 October, 1989. Participants working in the Central Govt. Organization can apply to the authorities concerned for availing special casual leave for the duration of the expedition. This leave can be sanctioned by their office up to 30 days in calendar year.

 

* Certificates:

Participants, who successfully complete the trek and abide by the discipline of the program, will be awarded certificates.

 

*Justice TPS Chawla Scholarship for underprivileged Girls: YHAI announced Justice T.P.S. Chawla Memorial Adventure Scholarship for underprivileged girls for participation in YHAI adventure activities. Girls whose family income is less than Rs.100000/- p.a. can avail this scholarship.  Applicant has to submit the salary certificate of their parents.  In case of Business, she has to submit their income on an affidavit. Deserving participants may apply to the National Office YHAI supported by relevant document / certificates.

 

*Adventure Scholarship for Physically Challenged Youth: YHAI announced 50% adventure scholarships of to physically challenged youth (including deaf & dumb) for YHAI adventure activities. Deserving participants may apply to the National Office YHAI, on a plain paper supported by relevant documents/certificates (Disability Certificate).  

 

*Off the beaten Siddharth Scholarship for underprivileged Young Men & Women :YHAI announced 50% Off the Beaten Track Siddharth Scholarship of the program fee to provide underprivileged Young Men & Women less than 30 years of age with an opportunity to participate in outdoor adventure activities/ programs by YHAI in various parts of the country.  Underprivileged Young Men & Women whose family income is less than Rs. 250000/- p.a can avail this scholarship by applying to the National Office YHAI supported by relevant document/ certificates through their respective State Branch.

 

 

* Cancellation Policy:

 

In case you are unable to join this trek, you will get a refund of 50% of Fees Amount provided when your request is received through online link (CLICK HERE) & offline booking should be come through the post directly at the National Office-New Delhi, on or before 20th November 2019. After this date no refund application will be considered. Any unforeseen event / strike or natural calamity/medical unfitness will not be considered as a cause of cancellation.

 

Note- Refund will be processed post completion of the program within 30 to 45 working days.
