* About Program:

For the last 45 years the Youth Hostels Association of India is organizing National Himalayan Trekking Expeditions in the heart of Himalayas. With all the effort and courage bringing together, with all the joy of exploring Mother Nature, we are organizing National Mountain Biking Expedition in very famous hill station  Manali  in Kullu Valley of Himachal Pradesh. Kullu Valley know as 'Valley of God' Manali (6726 ft) the picturesque valley, is also known as the Queen of Hill stations, located on the bank of river Beas. Manali is situated near the end of the valley on the National Highway leading to Leh. One sees well-defined snow capped peaks, the Beas river with its clear water meanders through the town. On the other side are deodar and pine trees, tiny fields and fruit orchards. It is an excellent place for a holiday, a favorite resort for trekkers and Bikers. From temples to antiquity, to picturesque sight-seeing spots and adventure activities, Manali is a popular resort for all seasons and for all travelers.

* Purpose:

The purpose of the expedition is to expose the YHAI members to a greater adventure and to rough the rigours of plodding with a sense of love for nature and outdoor recreational activity aiming at promoting adventure in tandem with national.

* How To Reach:

By Bus:- Manali is about 560 kms from Delhi, 280 kms from Shimla & 350 kms from Chandigarh. HRTC/Himachal Tourism operates Deluxe and Volvo buses for Manali.

By Train:- Nearest Railway station is Ambala (310 kms) and Chandigarh (350 kms). Nearest Airport is Bhuntar (60 km).

* Day Wise schedule:

Day 1- Reporting at the Base Camp Manali International Youth Hostel at 10:00 AM. After lunch orientation and general information about the expedition, Bike Rules and Safety Tips etc.

 

Day 2 - Biking to Hadimba temple, old Manali and Vasisth famous for hot water springs.(18Kms). Back to Manali Youth Hostel in the evening.

 

Day 3 - Biking to Solang valley via Bhang and Palchan and while coming back via Burua, Gaushal and old Manali. Back  to Manali Youth Hostel in the evening (38 Kms).

 

Day 4 - Biking to Naggar via Jagatsukh (one can see  Gayatri temple here) Haripur and in Naggar members can visit Nagger Castle(ancient Fort) and famous Nicholes Reorich Art Gallery. Back to Manali Youth Hostel in the evening. (34 KMs).

 

Day 5- Group breaks after breakfast (09:30 AM).

* Who can Participate:

This expedition is open to YHAI members who are 18 years and above as on 1st Sep, 2017. This condition will be adhered to strictly. Under age will not be considered in any case.

* How to Participate:

Online booking is available through Schedule & Seats of the program. Members can also apply through our YHAI Units or State Branch in their respective area.

* Offline Bookiing Process:

Members can also apply through the State Branch or Local Unit of YHAI by the prescribed registration form duly supported by a Medical Certificate, along with a DD of requisite amount ie Rs.4250/- (Rs. 50 postage charges) in favor of “Youth Hostels Association of India”, payable at New Delhi. The DD May be sent at following address aling with the trekking registration form.

* Cancellation Policy:

In case you are unable to join this biking expedition you will get a refund of Rs.2100/- provided your request is received before 15th September’ 2017. After this date no refund application will be considered. Any unforeseen event /strike or natural calamity will not be considered as a cause of cancellation. Refund will be given after completion of the program.

N.B: Without admit card, original membership card & medical certificate do not claim your registration as confirmed.

 

Seat once booked may not be re-scheduled or transferred.

There is no refund applicable for the all the program bookings done after 15th September’ 2017.

Any unforeseen event / strike or natural calamity will not be considered as a cause of cancellation.

Refund may be given after completion of the programs 30 to 45 working days.

 

* Notice to Participant for any illness or injury:

1. Smoking, use of alcohol and narcotics of any description is strictly prohibited during the course of the program.

 

2. Deviation from the set route of the program is not permitted. If participants may wish to join any other activity, they may do so at their own responsibility and risk only after finishing the program and checking out.

 

3. Stay other than YHAI Camp is not allowed for the entire duration of the camp.

 

4. This is an environment friendly trek. Do no litter any wrappers or spoil the trial in any way. In case you find any wrapper, plastic bag or anything left by trekkers on the way, please carry the same with you and deposit at the base camp.

 

5. Burning of wood during camp fire is strictly prohibited. Import of any bio Non- degradable Material in J & K is an offence.

* Food & Supplies:

Simple, nutritious vegetarian meals.

* Accommodation Facilities:

Tented accommodation/ Guest House.

* Safety & Security:

Extensive and painstaking preparations have gone into the planning of mountain biking routed for your safety. Our field staff and experienced camp leaders have been visiting the area to check all details. While every care has been taken to ensure safety, the Youth Hostels Association of India cannot be held responsible for any accident, illness and such other unforeseen eventualities.

YHAI Group Insurance cover is for accidental death or permanent disability only. You are advised to take personal insurance cover for your journey and other related matters. * What participants should along:

Two pair Track suits, Woolen gloves, Woolen socks, Warmers, Sweatshirts, Two Jackets, T Shirts, Cotton Shirts, Slacks, Cotton Pants, Sun Cap, Shoes, Socks, Enameled or Steel Mug / tumbler, Plate, Spoon, Water purifying tablets, Pen knife, Needle, Thread, Rain sheet, Spare buttons, Goggles, Cold cream / Vaseline, Soap, Toilet Paper, Towel, Medicines which you normally use at home, Camera with extra batteries.

 

* Special Casual leave:

No special casual leave is applicable for mountain biking program.

* Justice TPS Chawla Scholarship:

YHAI announces Justice T.P.S. Chawla Memorial Adventure Scholarship for underprivileged girls for participation in YHAI adventure activities. Deserving participants may apply to the National Office YHAI supported by relevant document / certificates.

 

* Adventure Scholarship for Handicap:

YHAI announces 50 adventure scholarships of each to physically challenged youth (including deaf & dumb) for this expedition. Deserving participants may apply to the National Office YHAI, on a plain paper supported by relevant documents/certificates.  

 

* Off the beaten Siddharth Scholarship:

To provide underpreviledged young men and women less than 30 years of age with an opportunity to participate in outdoor adventure activities / programs by YHAI in various parts of the country. Deserving participants may apply to the National Office YHAI supported by relevant document / certificates.
