* About Program:

Jalori pass is a continuous climb from Aut base camp with beautiful views of the snow-capped Dhauladhar ranges. The route also is a connecting road to Shima. On the way you will be cycling through lot of small towns & villages. It is also a challenging route for cyclists. You will also be amidst the beautiful greenery of Himachal.

*Purpose

The purpose of the expedition is to introduce the YHAI members to Mountain Biking as an outdoor adventure sport and also to make use of it as a Green transport in cities reducing congestion and pollution. Also after swimming this is the second best non-impact exercise in the world. Also we aim to inspire the spirit of National integration with the fun of Adventure sport.

* Day Wise schedule:

#Day 1: Report at Base Camp-Youth Hostel, Aut (3500 ft.)

Aut is a small town just after crossing the Jalori pass tunnel. River Beas is flowing just

behind the campsite with Mountains all around. Rest day for the participants.

 

#Day 2: Acclimatization and Orientation

Morning exercise to warm you up. A walk to a beautiful village and gain height. Return by lunch time.

Evening cycling to know about using gears in a cycle and safety rules & distribution of cycles and safety gears.

 

#Day 3: Biking to Youth Hostel, Banjar – 22 kms (4000 ft.)

Adventure starts with cycling through the Jalori tunnel 3 kms. Crossing bridges across winding rivers. Having packed lunch under a tree or near a stream. Banjar is a small town. Phagu Puul nearby is a nice place to walk to after reaching the camp.

 

#Day 4: Biking to Youth Hostel, Jibhi – 10 kms (6000 ft.)

Get ready  to cycle through narrow roads and ever increasing altitude. Winding roads and greenery all in the route. Jibhi is one of the most green and beautiful campsites. With a waterfall nearby to spend time and relax after cycling.

 

#Day 5: Biking to Youth Hostel, Sojha – 8 kms –(8500 ft.)

The most challenging route greets you with tough hairpin bend roads with steep gradients and offroad tracks. Breathtaking views on the way. Sojha is having a cinematic view of deep valleys on one side and tree lined mountains on the other. Relax and unwind as you have done the most hard part of the route. Nice nature walk trails around the campsite.

 

#Day 6: Nature Trail at Jalori Pass (10500 ft), Biking back to Jibhi camp 10kms

trekking to Jalori Pass. The views of snow capped peaks of the Dhauladhar ranges will fill you with happiness and the local tea shops for tea and local snacks.

#Day 7: Biking to Youth Hostel Aut – 32km-(3500 ft.)

 

#Day 8: Group breaks after breakfast

 

* Who can participate: Any member with minimum age of 18 may join this expedition. This condition will be adhered to strictly. Under age will not be considered in any case.

* How to Participate:

*Online Booking: Members desirous of joining this program may apply online by paying requisite program fee without transport online booking amount i.e. Rs. 4200/- (Fee Rs.4000+Online Chrgs.Rs200 Online Booking Amount).

We accept Net Banking, Debit Card and Credit Card payment on www.yhaindia.org for online payments.

After successful transaction Admit Card will be generated. Participant has to carry "Admit Card", "Trekking Medical Certificate" & "Membership Card"(Print out of temporary membership card may also be accepted) at the time of reporting to the Base Camp.

*Offline Booking: Members desirous of joining this program may apply on the prescribed "Trekking Registration Form" duly supported by a "Trekking Medical Certificate", along with a DD of requisite amount of Rs.4050/- in favour of “Youth Hostels Association of India” payable at New Delhi. * Cancellation Policy:

In case you are unable to join this trip you will get 50% Rs.2000 /- of the program fee as refund, provided your online cancellation request is received before 5th April’2017. http://yhaindia.org/program-cancellation.php

Seat once booked may not be re-scheduled or transferred.

There is no refund applicable for the all the program bookings done after 5th April’2017.

Any unforeseen event / strike or natural calamity or medical issues of participant will not be considered as a cause of cancellation.

Note- Refund will be processed post completion of the program within 30 to 45 working days.

* Safety & Security:

Extensive and painstaking preparations have gone into the planning of route for your safety. Our field staff and experienced camp leaders have been visiting the area to check all details. While every care has been taken to ensure safety, the Youth Hostels Association of India cannot be held responsible for any accident, illness and such other unforeseen eventualities.

 
* How To Reach: 
:  For National Himalayan Mountain Biking, our base camp is at Aut, which is on the Kullu-Manali Highway. It is 28km short from Kullu. Direct bus services are available from ISBT Delhi, Chandigarh and other parts of Punjab, nearest rail heads are Ambala and Chandigarh.
 
* What participants should bring along: 

Dress code: Cycling shorts/three quarters/tracks,dryfit/quickdry T-shirts, Jackets, Sun Cap, Trekking Shoes, Socks,

AccessoriesGoggles, Sipper/1 Ltr water bottle/waterbags,Small tiffin box, Enameled or Steel Mug / tumbler, Plate, Spoon, pen knife,Cold Cream / Vaseline, Soap, Toilet Paper, Towel, medicines which you normally use at home, Camera.

 
* Notice to Participants:
Notice for Participants:

1. Smoking, use of alcohol and narcotics of any description is strictly prohibited during the course of the program.

2. Deviation from the set route of the program is not permitted. If participants may wish to join any other activity, they may do so at their own responsibility and risk only after finishing the program and checking out.

3. Stay other than YHAI Camp is not allowed for the entire duration of the camp.

4. This is an environment friendly trek. Do no litter any wrappers or spoil the trial in any way. In case you find any wrapper, plastic bag or anything left by trekkers on the way, please carry the same with you and deposit at the base camp.

5. Burning of wood during camp fire is strictly prohibited. Import of any bio Non- degradable Material in Himachal Pradesh is an offence.

* Certificates: Participants, who successfully complete the trek and abide by the discipline of the program, will be awarded certificates.

* Special Casual leave: No special casual leave is applicable for cycling program.

 

* Justice TPS Chawla Scholarship:

YHAI announces Justice T.P.S. Chawla Memorial Adventure Scholarship for underprivileged girls for participation in YHAI adventure activities. Deserving participants may apply to the National Office YHAI supported by relevant document / certificates.

 

* Adventure Scholarship for Physically Challenged : YHAI announces 50% adventure scholarships of Rs.2000/- each to physically challenged youth (including deaf & dumb) for this expedition. Deserving participants may apply to the National Office YHAI, on a plain paper supported by relevant documents/certificates.  

 

* Off the beaten Siddharth Scholarship:

To provide underprivileged young men and women less than 30 years of age with an opportunity to participate in outdoor adventure activities / programs by YHAI in various parts of the country. Deserving participants may apply to the National Office YHAI supported by relevant document / certificates.

 

* Photography Competition: After the completion of each trekking expedition, a photography competition will be held for which attractive cash prizes and certificates will be awarded. You may also send your entries in the form of colored slides or prints on the following subjects: Nature-birds, Flowers, Scenic Beauty, Camping and Trekking. The size of the prints should be 8” x 10”. Please give brief details of the location of the subjects and also your name, address and group number on the reverse of the photograph. YHAI has the right to retain/use even the entries which are not selected for awards due to acknowledgement/compensation. Last date for submitting entries is 31st July 2017.
