Smith coming down from Kamet Expedition. Mythological it is the same place where Sanjivani Booti grew and was taken by great Hanuman to treat Laxman. This place is also associate d with Pandavas as Bhema fought for Bramha Kamal asked by Draupadi. It is a sacred place for Hindus as well as for Sikhs. It is Botanists and photographer paradise. Variety of flowers and plants grow in the valley. Mist, fragrance combine together give visitors a life time experience. Valley of Flowers is located in West Himalaya, in the state of Uttarakhand and is known for its meadows of endemic alpine flowers and the variety of flora. This richly diverse area is also home to rare and endangered animals, including the Asiatic black bear, snow leopard, musk deer, brown bear, red fox and blue sheep. Birds found in the park include Himalayan Monal pheasant and other high altitude birds. The Valley of Flowers is a high-altitude Himalayan valley that has long been acknowledged by renowned mountaineers, botanists, and in literature. It has been recognized internationally for over a century and is referenced in the Hindu religion. Local people have visited the valley since ancient times. Indian yogis (Yogesh Mota) are known to have visited the valley for meditation. The Valley of Flowers has many different colourful flowers, taking on various shades of colours as time progressed. The Valley of Flowers has gained importance as a region containing a diversity of alpine flora, representative of the Western Himalayan alpine shrub and meadows ecoregion. Trekking expedition including trek to Valley of Flowers, Hemkund & Badrinath. * Duration: 8N/9D * Reporting Point: Report at Rishiksh * Program Includes: Inclusive of Boarding, Lodging (simple veg food), group Insurance, Trekking and forest entry. * Day Wise schedule: Day 1 - Report at Base Camp, Rishikesh.before 4: 00pm Day 2 - Rishikesh to Joshimath - 275kms by bus (full day) Day 3 - Joshimath to Govindghat by bus and to Ghagaria by Trek 13 kms Day 4 - Ghagaria to Valley of Flowers and back (4 + 4 km) Trek Day 5 - Ghagaria to Hemkunt Sahib and back (5 + 5 kms ) Trek Day 6 - Ghagaria to Govind Ghat 13 kms Trek and to Badrinath by bus Journey of 25 km Day 7 - Badrinath to Vasudhara and return to Badranath Treck (8+8 km) Day 8 - Badrinath to Rishikesh - 310 km full day bus journey Day 9 - Check out after breakfast Note: Program Schedule and route is subject to change without prior notice. * Who can Participate: This expedition is open to YHAI members who are above 15 years of age & physically fit. Under age participate shall not considered in any case. * How to Participate: Online Booking: Members desirous of joining this programme may apply online by paying requisite program fee along with online booking amount i.e. Rs 6825/- (Rs.6500/- Program Fee + Rs325/- Online Booking Amount). Participant has to carry "Admit Card", "Trekking Medical Certificate" & "Membership Card"(Print out of membership card may also be accepted) at the time of reporting to the Base Camp. Offline Booking: Members desirous of joining this programme may also apply on the prescribed "Trekking Registration Form" duly supported by a "Trekking Medical Certificate", along with a DD of requisite amount of Rs.6550/-(Rs.50 postage charges) in favour of “Youth Hostels Association of India” payable at New Delhi. N.B: Without admit card and Medical fitness Certificate do not claim your registration as confirmed. * Cancellation Policy: In case you are unable to join this trek, you will get a refund of 50% of your booking Rs. 3250/- (except online charges) provided when your request is received through online link (CLICK HERE) & offline booking should be come through the post directly at the National Office-New Delhi, on or before 25th June, 2017. After this date no refund application will be considered. Please attach the copy of your Admit card in your cancellation request. Seat once booked may not be re-scheduled or transferred. There is no refund applicable for the all the program bookings done after 25th June, 2017. Any unforeseen event / unfit medical Condition/strike or natural calamity will not be considered as a cause of cancellation. Note- Refund will be processed post completion of the program within 30 to 45 working days. * Food & Supplies: Simple, nutritious vegetarian meals. * Accommodation Facilities: Pucca Accommodations/Guest House/Lodge on sharing bases. * Safety & Security: Extensive and painstaking preparations have gone into the planning of trekking routed for your safety. Our field staff and experienced camp leaders have been visiting the area to check all details. While every care has been taken to ensure safety, the Youth Hostels Association of India cannot be held responsible for any accident, illness and such other unforeseen eventualities. * How to Reach: For the convenience of the trekkers coming from all over the country, our Reporting Camp is situated in Rishikesh. Nearest Rail Head is Haridwar & Delhi. Regular Bus service is available from Haridwar & Delhi. By Air: The nearest airport to reach Rishikesh is the Jolly Grant airport, Dehradhun, which is around 35 kms from the city. There are taxis services, cabs and buses available outside the airport that can be taken to reach Rishikesh from Dehradhun. By Road: Rishikesh is well connected to all the major roads and national highways and can be easily reached from all the parts of the country. By rail: Haridwar is connected to major cities and can be reached easily from Rishikesh too. There are buses, cabs and private taxis available outside the station that can be used to reach Rishikesh from Haridwar. * What participants should bring along: Rucksack (if You have one), Woolens, Cotton Shirts, Slacks, Cotton Pants, Sun Cap, Shoes, Socks, Enameled or Steel Mug / tumbler, Plate, Lunch box ,Spoon, Water purifying tablets, Pen knife, Needle, Thread, Spare buttons, Goggles, Cold cream / Vaseline, Soap, Toilet Paper, Towel, Rain sheet/Rail coat, Medicines which you normally use at home, Camera with extra batteries. * Notice to Participants: YHAI membership card or Receipt of payment for membership fees and Admit card, original Medical Certificate & two Passport size photographs is must to enter into the Base Camp. Without these documents participating members will not be allowed at Base Camp. * Special Casual leave: The Trekking Expedition organized by Youth Hostels Association of India have the approval of Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions (Dept. of Personnel And Training), Government of India, vide Office Order no. 28016/3/89-Estt (A), Dated 25 October, 1989. Participants working in the Central Govt. Organization can apply to the authorities concerned for availing special casual leave for the duration of the expedition. This leave can be sanctioned by their office up to 30 days in calendar year. * Justice TPS Chawla Scholarship: YHAI announces Justice T.P.S. Chawla Memorial Adventure Scholarship for underprivileged girls for participation in YHAI adventure activities. Deserving participants may apply to the National Office YHAI supported by relevant document / certificates. * Adventure Scholarship for Handicap: YHAI announces 50 adventure scholarships of each to physically challenged youth (including deaf & dumb) for this expedition.
